UV ink combined with screen printing

UV ink is an environmentally-friendly ink that has been rapidly developed in recent years. It is popular among people in the printing industry for its instant curing, drying, non-volatile solvent, and simple and convenient application.

What happens when UV inks meet screen printing? In fact, UV inks have long been widely used in screen printing, and the printed materials are diverse, such as circuit boards, textiles, paper, synthetic paper, wood products, plastics, coated metals, glass, ceramics, etc. Both are included.

Screen printing ink layer is thick, bright color, simple process, low investment, quick effect, so it has been widely used in many industries such as light industry, electronics, machinery, automobile, textile, chemical, commercial, art, advertising, decoration, packaging, etc. Applications, especially in the areas of decorations, beautification of people's lives, commercial advertising, and printed circuits in the electronics industry, have played an irreplaceable role in other printing methods. In the modern printing industry, there is no screen printing to be called a complete printing company, so the evaluation is not excessive. In addition, I believe that with the rise of the consumer market, the demand for silk screen products will be larger and larger, and the screen printing industry will expand, and technological upgrading will be imperative.

However, with the continuous development of screen printing technology, screen printing equipment will also develop from manual, monochrome, fully automatic, multi-color automation, and the quality and grade of printing will be significantly improved. There is a higher demand for screen printing inks. In the future, more environmental protection and more technical content will become the double standard for silk screen printing and silk screen UV ink.

Features determine the screen printing of UV ink applications

Some people say that UV ink is applied in screen printing is inevitable, the reason is mainly depends on the characteristics of UV ink itself, then what are the characteristics of silk screen UV ink?

(1) The curing speed is fast, the UV equipment is small in size, and the production efficiency is high.

UV ink is very suitable for multi-color, fully automatic flow operation. In the past, solvent-based ink drying required long drying lines, and even some monochrome prints required drying equipment of about 10 m. After screen printing uses UV ink, only one UV light source is needed to solve the problem, which saves the cost of purchasing equipment, saves space, and greatly improves production efficiency.

(2) The ink will not block the screen, and the concentration is stable, suitable for high quality printing.

Some people say that 90% of the problems in the screen printing process are related to solvents. Solvents are an important part of screen printing inks. However, due to different regions and different temperatures and humidity, the performance of inks is very different. Therefore, the volatile ink is not contained, the ink viscosity changes little, and the easy-to-operate UV ink solves these problems well, and the printing quality is greatly improved. In addition, due to the fast curing speed of the ink, the residence time of the printed matter during the drying process is shortened, and the possibility of contamination by dust is reduced.

(3) It does not contain volatile solvents and has no negative impact on the human body and the environment.

At present, screen printing commonly used inks, in terms of output and variety, volatile dry solvent inks dominate. Because of its slow drying time, 60% of the solvent will volatilize during the drying process, so it is more polluted by the environment. The search for UV inks with low pollution, fast drying and low energy consumption has become a common goal of the printing industry.

(4) The ink layer is thick, the substrate is wide, and the operation is simple and flexible.

In general solvent inks, the solid content of the ink is about 40%, and the solid content of the UV ink after curing is close to 100%, which is 2 to 5 times that of the general ink. If thick film screen printing UV ink is better, it is more suitable for screen printing.

(5) Good wear resistance, solvent resistance, weather resistance and the like.

The chemical substances in the UV ink form a polymer three-dimensional network polymer through cross-linking reaction, and the ink surface has strong chemical resistance and friction resistance, which can reduce the loss of the printed matter due to the harsh environment during transportation, and prolong certain The time when the print is displayed outdoors.
