Introduction of water-based ink classification

Water-based inks can generally be classified into four categories: letterpress inks, lithographic inks, gravure inks, and mesh inks according to modern inks. The following editor will give you a brief introduction.

       ① Letterpress ink

Letterpress ink is mostly used to print books, bills, account books, and picture albums, and has the main feature that the inked part of the printing plate protrudes from the non-inked part. Letterpress inks can be divided into letterpress rotary inks, flexographic inks, lead printing inks, and copperplate inks according to the type of printing machine and the use of printed products.

       ②Lithographic ink

Lithographic inks are generally suitable for lithographic printing. The lithographic printing pattern is lipophilic, and the non-pattern is hydrophilic. Printing is performed using the principle of repelling oil and water, so the lithographic ink must have water resistance. Lithographic inks can be divided into offset printing inks, web offset printing inks, waterless offset printing inks, iron printing inks, lithographic printing inks, etc. according to the process.

       ③Gravure ink

Gravure ink is a type of ink suitable for gravure printing. Ink is applied to the patterned part recessed in the layout during printing, and the ink on the non-patterned part is wiped off or scraped off, and then printed. There are engraving gravure ink and photo gravure ink.

       ④Mesh printing ink

The mesh printing ink is generally printed on the printing surface through the mesh of the printing plate. It can be divided into two types: transcription ink and screen printing ink.
