The viscosity and consistency of the ink are related to the flow and transfer properties of the ink, and the two affect each other. The viscosity and consistency of the ink are different concepts. There is a certain difference between the two. The "sticky" ink is not necessarily "thick", and the ink with a large consistency is not equal to the ink with the same viscosity and the same viscosity. The worse the liquidity.
Conceptually different
The viscosity of the ink, also known as friction or cohesion, is the process in which the ink layer is stretched and broken during the ink transfer process. In order to resist the tensile force, the ink exhibits a tensile strength against stretching and breaking. The size is mainly determined by the composition of the ink itself, such as the viscosity of the binder, the proportion, shape and size of the pigment and its dispersion in the binder.
The ink has a certain consistency, because the ink is a fluid substance and has a flowing property, that is, when the ink is subjected to external force and gravity, it will inevitably flow in all directions like other liquids, and this property is flowed by force. It is called the fluidity of the ink. The fluidity is the consistency of the ink. The better the fluidity, the smaller the consistency, the worse the fluidity and the greater the consistency. The consistency of the ink is affected by multiple effects of viscosity, yield value and thixotropy. For example, when the viscosity of the ink is fixed, the yield value and thixotropy are larger, the ink consistency is higher, and the fluidity is worse. Conversely, the yield value and thixotropy are smaller. The smaller the ink consistency and the thinner the ink, the better the fluidity of the ink.
There is a difference in function
The ink must have a certain viscosity to meet the requirements of the printing process, which determines the transfer performance of the ink, the firmness of the imprint, the amount of penetration and the gloss. If the viscosity of the ink is too large or too small, it is unfavorable to the production: if the viscosity of the ink is too large, the ink will be unevenly distributed, the paper will be detached, the paper will be peeled off from the blanket cylinder, and the middle layer of the ink layer will be broken, so that the layout is broken. The residual ink layer is insufficient, and it is easy to use the plate and the plate under the action of dampening solution and pressure friction. If the viscosity of the ink is too small, the ink may be emulsified, creased, paste, and the dots are enlarged, and the ink layer is split. Not good, affecting product quality.
The consistency of the ink plays an important role in the transfer of ink at the dot, and achieves color reduction. The ink of appropriate consistency has good ductility, can be normally transferred between the ink rollers, and finally obtains a uniform ink film on the printing plate. After the graphic imprint is uniform and printed on the paper, the ink layer is leveled before drying, which promotes the smoothness of the ink film surface, thereby obtaining a good printing effect. If the ink consistency is too large, the ink is not smooth and uneven due to its poor fluidity.
Causes the appearance of the front deep back light, or the shallow back depth and other abnormal ink supply on the same printing surface, and the ink film is also rough, and the orange peel surface will appear in serious cases, thus affecting the gloss of the ink film. However, if the ink consistency is not enough, the fluidity is too large, the imprinting is not likely to get a good transfer, the image will be unclear, the ink color is not full, the color is not clear, the ink is easy to spread, and its geometrical size is enlarged and reduced. Printing quality.
