Effect of temperature and humidity on screen printing ink

In the south wind days, when the air is very humid, many silk screen masters complain: using the same screen printing ink, the same process, the yield is very low when printing, the screen printing ink is easy to gel, sticky, gambling, and printing. Oil, printed with ink matte, poor adhesion and other issues.

Masters who have been printing for a long time understand that silk screen printing has strict requirements on materials, processes and environment, and some subtle differences will have a serious impact on printing quality. Pay particular attention when processing some highly demanding fine products.

The above problems are mainly caused by the temperature and humidity of the working environment. The following are some suggestions for improvement based on the experience of on-site processing:

First, the temperature

1. When the temperature between the working chambers is too low, especially in the winter in the north, the fluidity of the ink becomes worse and even gelation occurs.

Solution: Solve with hot water or stir well.

2. When the temperature is too high, the screen printing ink will become quick-drying, and the silk screen will appear gambling net.

Solution: Replace the relatively slow drying thinner to solve.

Second, humidity

1. When the humidity is too large, it will absorb moisture during the printing operation, resulting in problems such as sticky adhesion, gel, matte, and poor adhesion of the screen printing ink.

Solution: Solve this problem with air conditioner or desuperheater.

2. If the humidity is too low, it will easily cause electrostatic dust pollution.

Solution: Use antistatic agent or dust roller to solve it.
